Wrestlemania Night 1

The main event was finally here! The reason we came to the USA for this trip in the first place. It’s WrestleMania Night 1!

Unfortunately Adam woke up a bit groggy this morning and turns out he’s come down with some kind of cold. So first up this morning was a quick breaky stop at Starbucks, then off to a CVS for some day and night tablets.

With that sorted, we came back to our room for a little rest before our big day begins. The NBA Playoffs kicked off today so we watched the Indiana vs Milwaukee match before Linnie came up with a genius idea.

Jimmy Johns special delivery!

There is a Jimmy Johns in Las Vegas, plus Door Dash gives you a free delivery upon signup, so why don’t we get a sandwich delivered?!

So that’s exactly what we did. The plan went off without a hitch too! We got our lunch sorted and watched the end of the NBA, then made our way to Allegiant Stadium for WrestleMania!

Watching some NBA Playoffs

It was roughly a 1hr walk so we set off around 12:30pm to give us plenty of time. We anticipated a huge line to get in if previous Manis were any guide and the event goes live at 4pm.

The buzz was great. There were tons of other wrestling fans walking in droves to the stadium, doing chants and having a great time, we were loving it.

The walk to WrestleAania begins!

We arrived at the stadium around 2pm or so and soaked up the festivities, but it was a fairly warm day so by now we were just keen to get inside. There were huge lines, but we went around the side and stumbled upon a shorter line. Score!

Inside we did a lap of the stadium and then found our seats. We were now set for a huge spectacle!

WrestleMania Night 1 Card

First up was the traditional God Bless America wankfest song where they worship themselves, then Triple H kicked things off.

Triple H kicking off proceedings

The first match was Gunther vs Jay Uso, so a pretty good start. Uso’s entrance nearly took longer than the bout itself. It was a good match but we were a little disappointed that Gunther lost. He tapped to Jay Uso?? come on!

Jey Uso with his annoying as shit entrance

Next up was the tag team titles between War Raiders and New Day. This was probably the worst match on the card and was pretty boring to be honest. New Day won by cheating at the end.

Jade Cargill was up against Naomi next and this was a relatively short match, but it was good. The story leading up to this match was entertaining and Jade ended up getting the win.

LA Knight entering the ring

LA Knight took on Jacob Fatu next and this one was also good. We loved LA Knight’s entrance, rocking up in a lavish car, but he ended up losing to Fatu. Damn this guy has some moves!

Up next was El Grande Americano against Rey Fenix. It was supposed to be Rey Mysterious until he got injured, but we prefer Fenix anyway.

El Grande Americano – who is he?

This match was entertaining with some high flying moves, as you’d expect with luchadores, but El Grande got the win by cheating. We didn’t find out who he was, but still suspect it’s Chad Gable.

The penultimate match was Charlotte Flair up against Tiffany Stratton. This was one of our least favourite matches. It seemed boring and Charlotte struggled a bit. Stratton got the win, much to the fans delight.

Now it was time for the main event. The triple threat match between CM Punk (w/ Paul Heyman), Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. It was nothing short of spectacular.

It was a half hour slugfest that had everything. Brawls in the crowd, powerbombs through announcing tables and a heal turn by Heyman and Rollins. This is one we’ll remember forever.

Also, Living Color were playing live for CM Punk’s entrance. Not often you get that! We were super stoked.

Reigns vs Punk vs Rollins at the bell

Not to mention, the Timberwolves beat the LA Lakers in Game 1 of the NBA Playoffs. What a way to top up a perfect day.

After mania we decided to make the long walk back home and by now Adam was struggling a bit and was sick, so we headed back to the room, not before stopping to watch the Bellagio fountains at night.

We finished the night watching a replay of the triple threat match, then watching a Black Mirror episode. What an awesome day, and we do it all again tomorrow!
